we bring a few favorite outdoor toys when we go Airstreaming.
see that list of toys HERE.
but sometimes we need a quiet indoor activity: when it’s raining, when KK first wakes up, when we need some time to rest, etc.
but the Airstream has very limited storage, so we have to be very intentional with what we bring.
see more details on our Airstream here.
here are our favorite indoor activities for the Airstream.
coloring supplies:
We love asking for coloring supplies from loved ones. See the five gifts we love to ask from grandparents, etc here.
a lil bag of magnatiles:
a lil bag of blocks
we bring this huge, awesome, inexpensive pack of blocks, too. It expands the possibilities for building play, and I don’t worry about pieces getting lost. This saves us when the weather is poor or when I want to rest.
and a bag of vehicles
because I swear that as long as my kids have some sort of vehicle and some sort of building toy (and some sort of coloring), they’re content.
and we have plentyyy of vehicles at home, but I wanted to have special vehicles that lived in the Airstream:
additonal details:
We keep our Magnatiles and our blocks in the Airstream in two clear cosmetic bags like this. Our vehicles are stored in one of those bags that sheets come in.
Makes them all easy to see, easy to carry around, easy to store.
We keep our toy bags and our books in a big floor basket like this.
Our actual basket is an old TJMaxx purchase.
More on our favorite books next.
We love asking family for Magnatiles add-on sets for gifts.

We have Magnatiles, blocks, and vehicles at home, too.
But we make sure the toys in our Airstream are special toys. Like this Magnatile set to build a house.
Here’s why I love keeping Magnatiles near our kitchen.

books + magazines
our two absolute favorites we never leave without:
The 50 States: Explore the States with 50 Maps!
the most gorgeous, engaging book!
and a pile of magazines from our Birthday Magazine Tradition
because it means we always have new stories for bedtime, we always have fun activities for rainy days, and we always have reading material that I don’t have to worry about it getting lost or damaged.
we love magazines from Ranger Rick, Highlights, and Cricket - each company has several magazine options broken down by age!

outdoor toys:
And we bring a laundry basket of favorite, favorite Outdoor Toys. Toys for imaginative play, toys for gross motor play, toys for fine motor play, toys for water/sand/dirt/rocks play. The most wonderful, versatile list of toys - all of which fit in a laundry basket. SEE THE LIST HERE.
