our airstream + our favorite things.png

our airstream and allllll the details

November 28, 2024

my parents got an Airstream a long time ago.

and this summer, they got a bigger Airstream.

“would you like our smaller airstream?” they asked, “we’d like to camp with our grandkids.”

well, yeah.

so here we are, taking advantage of Brett working remotely (and neither kid being in school yet), exploring in this 25-foot Flying Cloud we lovingly named Big Bertha.

and i’ll update this post as we learn the ropes, as we go on trips, as we organize every square inch.

consider this post a place I’m always adding our travel, camping, and small space favorites.

weeeee!

Kids’ stuff:

  • our must-haves for airstreaming with little kids

  • the toys and activities we bring

  • what I keep in my everyday backpack as a mom

  • stuff we use and love for packed lunches/snacks

  • stuff we bring for campground showers

  • kids’ clothes we bring camping

    • also:

    • the three pairs of shoes we swear by for camping

    • kids’ cold weather gear

    • kids’ rainy weather gear

My stuff:

  • clothes I bring camping

  • my favorite snacks I always have on hand

  • my crossbody + my mom backpack of goodies

  • also:

    • my warm-weather capsule wardrobe

    • my cold-weather capsule wardrobe

    • my swimming capsule wardrobe for pools/lakes/rivers/etc

    • my favorite target shoes - including cozy shoes, shower sandals, rain boots

    • our family’s rain gear

Medicine + First Aid + Emergency:

  • because we find ourselves in some remote and rural places, we’re incredibly stocked

  • the list of things we keep in brett’s truck for emergencies - like a battery jump starter

  • three clear acrylic boxes with all our first aid essentials

  • these easy things for fire safety (like this fire blanket and my favorite tiny extinguisher!)

  • flashlights, lanterns, and battery-operated twinkle lights

  • two of these perfect tackle boxes - one for us, one for the kids - with a few medicines we’d like to have on hand, should someone start to feel poorly in the middle of the night

  • a zipper mesh bag with our Blueberry Pediatric at-home medical kit

  • our family’s go bag

Decorating + Organizing:

  • links to our decor - our rugs, bedding, blankets, pillows, lamps, and towels!

  • battery-operated twinkle lights!

  • links to our tiny bathroom favorites

  • four things to utilize wall space in the tiny bathroom

    • (like my favorite suction cup shower baskets!)

  • hooks for bananas, hooks for hats, hooks for towels

  • the adhesive bins I have on the inside of every cabinet door

    • i SWEAR by these - it felt like our space tripled in storage

  • these rope baskets since a lot of our storage space is oddly-shaped

  • these rope baskets (that fit a surprising amount of stuff) for organizing our clothes

  • pretty woven baskets I love

  • the baskets I use to store shoes, towels, and toys

  • our containers that organize most of our cabinets

  • the containers that maximize every square inch of our narrowwww pantry

  • our slim laundry basket

Cooking + Eating + Drinking:

  • the best hot chocolate + frother

  • my favorite dishes for eating on the road

  • things I love for cooking on the road

  • our airstream kitchen favorites

  • our containers of electrolytes, supplements, and powders

  • two must-haves: a water filter + an ice maker

  • my favorite knives, our magnetic knife rack, our cutting board stove cover

    • I will never stop talking about these knives - such a good price, and I have four at home and four in the Airstream because I use them all day long. I will always invest in tools that make it easier to feed my family well.

Cleaning:

  • cleaning favorites

  • our rags, our dishcloths, and the containers we keep them in

Dog Stuff:

  • our dog first aid, kept with all our first aid essentials

  • dog shot records kept in one of my favorite zipper bags

Outdoor Stuff:

  • our favorite outdoor toys, part 1

  • our favorite outdoor toys, part 2

    • PSA: I store our outdoor toys in two $4 laundry baskets so that the toys are easy to see, easy to hose off, and easy to throw in the truck for camping!

  • our scooters + kid bikes

  • our outdoor box with first aid, sunscreen, fly fans, etc

  • our wagon + adventure must-haves

  • my walking favorites

  • our favorite kid carrier for hikes

  • our s’mores kit - we called this the best anniversary gift

Road Trip Stuff:

  • things we always have in the car to make our lives as parents easier

More details and more favorite things coming soon! I’ll continue to update this post.
