because I love looking in other people’s carts to see what they’re buying, here’s a peek into mine!
(and because this is a super easy reason for me to link past posts. win, win!)
more of our favorite nighttime cough/mucus medicine for KK
here’s our cold and flu favorites for our kids
candy eyeballs for our Halloween dinner
we normally do Halloween Tamales, but I couldn’t justify the price this year and that’s okay. so we’re doing something easy, something festive, and something that’ll be easier on the wallet: mummy hot dogs or mummy pigs in a blanket!
a lightweight black puffer jacket for KK
because she’s wearing a black shirt, black leggings, and these butterfly wings for Halloween, but Halloween is supposed to now be cold. so let’s add this black puffer jacket under her wings, and then after Halloween we’ll keep it in the car as her emergency jacket. win, win!
here’s a list of everything I keep in my car.
here’s this year’s easy, easy family costume. because while I admire people who make their Halloween costumes, I am just not that person.
my nephew’s birthday gift
I follow this Decide Once gift for my nephews’ birthdays: a magazine subscription, an art activity or supply, and/or something to do together. for fun mail all year long, and for fun things to do - the best!
so for the soon-to-be six year old, he’s getting a Highlights magazine subscription, some smelly markers, and this gross-but-fun jellybean game. i’m so excited!
but honestly, I may give him these stinky crayons instead, and save the smelly markers for a future birthday gift, since smelly markers are one of the 7 things I keep on hand for birthday gifts.
they were on sale, so I grabbed a set for my nephew (maybe), a set for KK’s stocking, and a few sets for this year’s birthdays. yay!
click here for a full list of what’s in our stockings this year, as well as what we’re giving (and getting!) for Christmas.

with a tag “one is buckets of fun! happy birthday!”
I love to give this awesome stack of rainbow buckets for first birthdays, yes. but also for second birthdays. and any birthday, really. this stack of rainbow buckets is consistently one of our favorite toys: for imaginative play, for building play, for “cooking” play, for water play, for bath play, for beach play, for sand play, for camping play, for dirt play, and and and.
it’s on our list of kk’s favorite toys under $20 (a very popular gift guide!)
and it’s also one of the only toys we bring in the airstream for all kinds of outdoor play. it’s that good.
one of my big november projects is to clean out our desk drawers and stock them with the adulting things we need - like stamps and tiny tape measures
a protective cover for my laptop finally
adding “clean laptops” to my yearly list under november and may. because I need to be better about taking care of two of our most-used investments.
a few things to replenish our first aid stash
and a good chunk of this year’s christmas gifts + stocking stuffers
And whenever possible, I choose the slowest delivery date - because usually Amazon gives a credit to be used towards digital purchases (like movie rentals for Movie Night with Brett! or kindle books for my phone!), and because I prefer my items arrive in one big box once a week instead of 397297 packages. KK loves coloring the big ol Amazon box before we reuse or recycle it.
ps here’s 3 things we love to do for a movie night at home
and here’s our favorite things for making goooood popcorn
also here’s how we organize kk’s art supplies
To everyone out there running a household and doing the behind the scenes work of such, you are so appreciated. Whatever works best for you is fantastic - relying on online shopping to minimize my errands is something that just works really well for me in this current season.
