i actually get more involved (and excited for) celebrating Valentine’s Day. Mainly because, back when I was a florist, I personally never took a wedding near Valentine’s Day. But, I think I took a wedding Easter weekend every single year - I loved them. So, we really only have one recurring Easter tradition:
Easter baskets.
You know I love a good gift-giving formula to use year after year, and I love a gift giving formula that prioritizes items that can be used even when the holiday is over. like, instead of filling a basket of easter-specific items, I love to think of things that maybe I want/need to buy us anyway. because I’m going to throw those things in a basket and call it an Easter gift.
which got me thinking, what if our Easter Baskets were full of things we could use all Summer?
(or, in Texas, 80% of the year. let’s be real.)
and a tradition was born. I love the yearly reminder to make sure we have swimsuits and pool things and summer essentials. but above all else, it gets me excited. so even Mom and Dad get a basket.
(And bottom line: Mama deserves some new pool gear each year she feels good in. After all, who do you think is taking KK and her future siblings to the pool?)
Aside from that, we may do a special Easter brunch ourselves, we may go see family, we may make some sort of precious keepsakes to send loved ones. It all depends on the year. It’s fluid and flexible.
But one thing is for certain each year: we will do summer-themed Easter baskets.
And we thrive all summer long with their blessed contents.
