we use our Easter baskets as our way of purchasing some essentials for the upcoming Texas Summer. because I’ll need to buy things like swimsuits and sunscreen and pool hats anyway, so I may as well throw it in a basket and call it an Easter gift.
plus, this is my annual reminder to make sure Brett and I both have summer things we feel good in. because who do you think is taking all these babies to the pool all summer, and to the beach for our annual trip? mama and daddy.
also, that said, because we splurge on these Easter baskets to make sure we’re all outfitted for Summer, it is much pricier than if we did, say, Easter trinkets and candy. so we put a little money aside for this all year long. and because while it’s expensive up front, everything in these baskets gets used a ton, both that upcoming summer, and summers to come. (did I mention we live in Texas? so really they get used for the majority of the year.)
without further ado, here are our baskets this year, for Summer 2023:
KK (she’ll be 3 in June):
pool essentials
three long-sleeved swimsuits
this year I did one target, one old navy, one nordstrom rack
a coverup from Target or Old Navy
my favorite toddler pool hat in white + three reusable pull-ups in white
we actually had these on hand from last year, but I’ll still put them in the basket, even though they’re not new!
a new bottle of sunscreen + this foundation brush = my favorite way to apply sunscreen to kids (and KK loves it, too)
let’s grab a new stick of sunscreen, too
new warm-weather clothes
a pair of water-friendly sandals in white
we like to get shoes in white to match everything…and to be handed down to future siblings/cousins.
see more about kk’s capsule-ish wardrobe here
and/or these shoes for hiking/camping/playing this summer
a new outdoor toy or two
a pair of her favorite goggles in a new color
this awesome race car we saw at the splash pad
maybe a new pack of chalk and some bubbles, too
an experience gift or two for Summer Adventures
a membership to our favorite local splash pad
a gift card to a new-to-us ice cream shop
joey: (he’ll be 4 months old for Easter)
this rashguard swimsuit (in his next size and his next next size)
two or three reusable swim diapers in white + a good white sun hat
we had these as handmedowns from KK, and I’ll put those in the basket!
and a pack of swim diapers I grabbed to allow my online Target order to be over $35 and therefore shippable
this pool floatie we already had on hand (and loved when KK was a baby)
gift card to a new-to-us ice cream shop, different from the one KK received
me:
I don’t need any new swimsuits, rashguards, hats, shoes, pool bags, or coverups
but see this post for my absolute favorites!
a water-friendly ring sling to wear joey in the pool
I’m getting navy to match my swimsuit and joey’s
see this post for my absolute favorite swimsuits!
a new navy cap from my University
two of these dresses in colors that coordinate with my capsule-ish wardrobe
I love getting these to wear allllll summer with these bike shorts underneath
a big jug of my favorite sunscreen for my bathroom counter
I put this in my Easter Basket every year and it lasts me the whole year.
I love to use this before heading to the pool, but I use it every morning as my daily face sunscreen, too. See my skincare routine here.
brett:
he doesn’t need a swimsuit this year
a big jug of my favorite sunscreen for his bathroom counter
some stasher silicone bowls for taking produce to the pool
a new pair of his favorite pool sandals
