how we celebrate easter.png

our easter baskets, 2022 edition

April 12, 2022

here’s a full post on how we celebrate easter + how our Easter basket formula came to be.

here are our baskets this year, for Summer 2022:

KK (she’ll be 22 months old for Easter):

  • two of our absolute favorite long-sleeved swimsuits: this one and this one!

    • made her basket rainbow-ish themed because of these favorite swimsuits - I like to get her two swimsuits and we use them alllllll year long.

    • note: she actually received one swimsuit early since we joined Lifetime gym in January and have spent all our time since then playing in their indoor family beach pool (see more about this here!). but even though she got a suit early, I wanted to list it here since the rest of her basket was inspired by this suit.

  • rainbow cover-up + ruffle coverup

    • in a wayyyy bigger sizes, in hopes these last more than one summer

  • some essentials for the pool

    • mineral sunscreen to keep in our Packed Pool Bag for all of us to use at the pool - testing out a few bottles this year to find our favorites!

      • basically I just buy a bunch of sunscreen to try and we’re stocked for the Texas Summer, thanks to our Easter baskets.

    • my favorite toddler pool hat in white

    • reusable swim diapers in white

  • a few pieces for her capsule summer wardrobe, like new shoes for summer

    • two or three hair bows

    • some solid-colored dresses + solid-colored shirts + black bike shorts

      • see more about kk’s capsule-ish wardrobe here

    • a pair of Natives we LOVE

      • except I bought them secondhand for much cheaper on Poshmark

    • these pink sandals

      • we like to get shoes in white to match everything…and to be handed down to future siblings/cousins. but if white isn’t preferable (or available), we try to get a solid color in pink, just because it matches the majority of her closet.

    • see more about kk’s capsule-ish wardrobe here

  • some sort of food container for taking snacks/lunches to the pool/gym/park

    • a divided, stainless steel snack containers

      • see our other lunchbox + snack container favorites here!

      • see a peek into our daily schedule here

  • a few fun toys/activities for summer

    • jumbo crayons + jumbo colored pencils

    • doodle board

    • pool rings

    • a garden shovel + bunny ears from Target Dollar Spot

  • that’s not my bunny

    • see our baby bookshelf of seasonal, themed books for our full list of books!

me:

  • a big jug of my favorite sunscreen for my bathroom counter

    • I put this in my Easter Basket every year and it lasts me the whole year.

    • I love to use this before heading to the pool, but I use it every morning as my daily face sunscreen, too. See my skincare routine here.

    • photo proof that these jugs of sunscreen live in my house all year round. make your home work for you.

  • a few of my skincare products

  • spf chapstick

  • insulated water bottle for taking my daily smoothie to the pool/gym

    • here’s a full list of what I love to bring to the pool/gym!

  • some sort of food container for taking snacks/lunches to the pool/gym/park

    • a divided, stainless steel snack containers

      • see our other lunchbox + snack container favorites here!

      • see a peek into our daily schedule here

  • a few sleeveless tanks for working out/everyday wear

    • one from Target, two from Gap, one from LLBean

  • some jean shorts I love from Target - my other pairs are now too big :)

  • inexpensive aviator sunglasses I picked up on clearance at ASOS

I really didn’t need anything swimwear-wise this year, thanks to last year’s awesome Easter basket.

brett:

  • possibly a new swimsuit - need to gauge the state his current ones are in

  • bottles of sunscreen

  • a few thin, comfy, solid-colored shirts from REI, Old Navy, and Patagonia

  • a few pairs of his favorite Old Navy shorts - basically each year I buy him five pairs of their basic, black athletic shorts, and he wears them and the aforementioned shirts 95% of the year

  • new airpods for work- we’ve been saving separately for this anyway, but I’m going to throw it in his basket and call it an Easter gift

Here’s last year’s awesome Easter basket if you need more ideas.
