this was a fun month.

remember that black paper from childhood, that when you drew on it, your drawing was rainbow? these rainbow art mini papers are just. that - but a tiny version. which is perfect for my three year old, who draws in short amounts of time and then moves on.
these rainbow art mini papers were one of KK’s third birthday gifts and they were such a hit. we love to use them for our evening quiet time - here’s how we store our art supplies!

2) this four-pack of camping lanterns
I truly never stop talking about these. THE best set of lanterns, and these lanterns truly saved us during that weird Texas Ice Storm where we lost power and water for a week. we lived by these lanterns.
I’m always talking about emergency preparedness - I grew up in Houston, and my parents only live near me now because Hurricane Harvey destroyed my childhood home - and I’m here to say that emergency preparedness is necessary. one of my 10 easy things to do right now for emergency preparedness is to invest in good emergency lighting, like this four-pack of camping lanterns. (I also keep one in my car and it comes in so handy.)

y’all know I’m really particular about what toys we bring into the house - KK plays better when she’s not overwhelmed with options, and I function better when the clutter in our home is manageable. I need a toy that inspires lots of play and I need a toy that’ll grow well with us across multiple ages. these car bases for magnatiles are some of the BEST toys we’ve found in awhile.
we keep a rolling cart of a biggg pack of magnatiles near our kitchen - see a quick reel on that here! - and simply adding some car bases for magnatiles has inspired the best play. KK uses the car bases for magnatiles to build cars, to build trucks, to build double decker buses, etc. we’re calling them Our Toy of Summer 2023 - they’ve saved us these hot, hot afternoons (and slowwww mornings) this summer.

4) the best personal steam inhaler
Brett and I use this thing all the time - congestion, sinus gunk, clogged ears, you name it
sometimes we add these vapor pads, too
on a more disgusting note, KK once had the biggest, nastiest piece of dried mucus blocking her entire nose, and it was basically attached to that inner, tender skin of her nose with unbreakable determination. until I had her sit in my lap with the best personal steam inhaler for a few minutes to loosen it all up. and then I was able to easily wipe said mucus boulder away without causing any sort of wound or tears, and we were able to move on with our day. bless.

7) our sheets
it’s almost embarrassing how much I love these less than $25 sheets - they’re so comfy, and I don’t worry about us/kids/dogs messing them up. we have two sets, we wash them every Friday, and we rotate between sets - I love this stuff for keeping my whites white.

8) this awesome salad container for lunch
it has a container for dressing, and a separate, divided lid to keep your toppings separate from your greens. and don’t get me wrong - when I was a teacher, I liked mason jar salads and prepping some for the week. but Teacher Haley would’ve loved having this awesome salad container for lunch.
and y’all know I prep KK’s lunches and snacks every single night as one of my evening routines, even when we’re eating at home the next day. having that food prepared is such a gift for Future Haley. but lately, I’m trying to be better about packing a lunch for me, too. and this awesome salad container for lunch has been quite the asset. anytime I find a niiiiice salad sitting in the fridge just for me during naptime, I about weep happy tears.

unexpectedly one of KK’s favorite toys right now (3 years old). the Easter Bunny brought it to her when she was just shy of 2 years old, and lately she loves drawing on it in the car, or using it to play doctor. she uses this doodle pad as her “doctor notepad.”
we love this doctor kit and this vet kit - these two things get played with alllll the time with this doodle pad.
10) my jewel-toned plastic bento boxes!
GAH! I love these. because while I love our stainless steel bento boxes, I wanted an option for the pool/splashpad/park/beach where if something were to happen to the bento box, I wouldn’t be devastated. these pack of four plastic bento boxes are perfect, and I love that there are five compartments - which works great for a hearty toddler lunch, or a delightful mama lunch, both of which fit great in our little soft cooler!
I’m trying to share every Friday our lunches/snacks from that week, so you’ll see these pack of four plastic bento boxes there a lot.
