currently meal prepping

i usually do a little meal prep on Sundays, but I may do a bit here and there throughout the week. at a minimum, I try to always do this - makes the whole week SO much smoother!

below is the list of what I hope to meal prep this week - it may not all happen, and that's okay! even 5 minutes of prep is super beneficial.

  • prep some dinner components:

  • prep some sort of dessert for the week

  • prep some things to make breakfasts/snacks/lunches smoother

    • make a batch of my favorite slow cooker broccoli cheese soup for my lunches

      • freeze leftovers - here’s how I freeze and thaw soup

    • didn’t get around to prepping these last week, so let’s add them to this week’s list:

    • make a batch of oatmeal like this

      • excerpt from my “my breakfast and lunch favorites” blogpost:

      • up until, like, a year ago, i swore I disliked oatmeal. but it turns out I was just eating the wrong kind. my mom one day made oatmeal like this with good oats, and served it to me plain with a generous slab of butter stirred in. it was this savory risotto-like situation. it was heavenly. and from then on, I was a converted oatmeal lover.

      • so now I make a batch - at least once or twice a month - of the above recipe, and I portion them out into smaller mason jars like this. that way, when it’s breakfast/lunch time, I can grab one of the containers, heat it up, stir a slab of butter into the hot oatmeal, and enjoy. i thank Past Haley profusely whenever I find these gemstones in my fridge.

lots of my favorite lotion and my favorite sunscreen. trying to really focus on prioritizing my skin.

currently streamlining

  • our wishlists + our list of Favorite Things + Gift Ideas. see my full list of how I streamline holidays and celebrations here. which means I’m also streamlining…

  • our list of what we’re getting KK for Christmas, what to ask our families for for Christmas, what Brett and I are giving to each other for our Christmas Eve Box gift tradition, what Santa is bringing us, etc. making a plan this early really helps keep me from falling prey to all the seasonal gift guides/advertisements/sales. helps keep me on track, prevents me from overspending, and encourages me to instead think of practical things that we’d use often. (can you tell Baby Haley had a bigggg weakness for all those pretty gift guides?)

currently loving

  • sensory play. see my new post on our list of sensory play favorites - lots of good ideas for the upcoming holidays!

  • our new steam mop. holy buckets. our tile has never been so clean…and our saturday/sunday chore of cleaning floors has never been so easy. see our simplified cleaning schedule here.

currently working on

  • getting a few household + business things done now so that I don’t have to worry about them when I have weddings at the end of this month. always doing what I can to take care of Future Haley.

  • adding to our water supply in our emergency stash.

  • one of our October routines of peeking over Amazon Subscribe/Save - is there anything we can add or remove? similarly, is there anything else in our life in this season of ours that we can automate? this annual reminder to pause and reflect helps me immensely. see list of our annual routines here.

  • posting our list of September + October routines,
