i noticed a huge difference in KK between 18 and 24 months, so instead of doing one big post, I’m breaking it up by month. here are her ten favorite things at 21 months!
(see the full list of favorite things from birth until now here!)
her magnatiles
we hung a big, magnetic chalkboard near where I cook. perfect for my inner calligrapher (prebaby Haley also had a calligraphy business!) and for a free way to decorate for holidays and celebrations, but also perfect for kids. coloring with chalk, playing with magnets, hanging school papers, displaying family photos. it’s another thing in our home that will grow with us - that makes me so happy.
and next to that chalkboard I keep a rolling cart (which used to be my nursing cart). and in there I keep a massive pile of rags for the 447201 messes we clean up each day, and in there I also keep a whole bunch of Magnatiles.
and this month, KK has been suddenly super into her Magnatiles.
the childcare at the gym - aka kk’s favorite place
we joined a gym with good pools and good childcare. and it is our favorite morning outing. i swim laps, I take a niiiiice shower, I get ready, I drink a smoothie, I take care of things on my laptop, I talk with friends - all the while kk is having the best time playing in the awesome childcare area. i pick her up, we eat our packed lunches with friends, and everyone goes home for afternoon nap with full bellies and full hearts. like I said, it’s the best.

kk and I share a daily smoothie as apart of our daily schedule. and while usually she loves these reusable pouches for her smoothie, lately she has preferred these smoothie cups.
working in her play kitchen
in kk’s play kitchen, we have this set of pots and pans, as well as this set of utensils. and lately KK can be found throughout the day at her play kitchen, stirring away in her pots and pans. (or answering the phone we added to her play kitchen - details on this in the post on kk’s play kitchen.)
kk is starting to really love her books

kk’s new play area!
we turned our dining room into a play area, and moved. our dining table into the home office to create an art/project/work room of sorts. finally having a room dedicated to play - but still visible from the kitchen - was THE BEST THING EVER.

her beloved stools in her playroom
we got two of these ikea kid stools to go with our two ikea sensory tables, and kk just lovesssss pulling up a stool and sitting at her tables to work on whatever activity (or art supply) I’ve laid out.
