my parents got an Airstream a long time ago.
and this summer, they got a bigger Airstream.
“would you like our smaller airstream?” they asked, “we’d like to see the country with our grandkids.”
well, yeah.
so here we are, taking advantage of Brett working remotely (and neither kid being in school yet), exploring in this 25-foot Flying Cloud we lovingly named Big Bertha.
and i’ll update this post as we learn the ropes, as we go on trips, as we organize every square inch.
consider this post a place I’m always adding our travel, camping, and small space favorites.
weeeee!
But first:
five things I do before any trip - even Airstream ones - to take care of my Future Self
Now onto a few of our favorite things!
Kids’ stuff:
these coloring supplies for quiet mornings and rainy days
the only two books & three toys we bring (aka our absolute favorites for lots of play!)
My stuff:
Medicine + First Aid:
because we find ourselves in some remote and rural places, we’re incredibly stocked
three clear acrylic boxes with all our first aid essentials (including dog first aid)
two of these perfect tackle boxes - one for us, one for the kids - with a few medicines we’d like to have on hand, should someone start to feel poorly in the middle of the night
a zipper mesh bag with our Blueberry Pediatric at-home medical kit
Cleaning:
Decorating + Organizing:
links to our decor - our rugs, bedding, blankets, pillows, lamps, and towels!
things I stick on the inside of cabinet doors to maximize space
I also love this $2 laundry basket for transporting stuff
for bringing stuff to the Airstream, for organizing things while we drive, etc. I use these laundry baskets to easily bring food to the Airstream when we’re first packing up, and we use the baskets for carrying outdoor toys and emergency towels in the truck while we travel. THE BEST.
Cooking + Eating + Drinking:
my essentials for road trip lunches (and hiking picnics!)
Dog Stuff:
our dog first aid, kept with all our first aid essentials
these inexpensive leashes in the Airstream
and the same leashes kept in the truck - we learned very quickly it was easier to keep two separate sets so that we were always prepared
every single leash has one of these poop bag dispensers, too
I keep the Airstream leashes in one of these adhesive bins on the inside of the kitchen cabinet door - it’s the best use of space!
dog shot records kept in one of my favorite zipper bags
collapsible dog bowls for the truck, hiking backpacks
this kennel table topper that makes the kennel this great table
Outdoor Stuff:
a huuuuge secondhand playpen for joey that we put outside the Airstream as a safe spot for Joey for when we’re hanging outside
our s’mores kit - we called this the best anniversary gift
More details and more favorite things coming soon! I’ll continue to update this post.
